Table of Contents

Tables are very important for your WordPress website. Almost every website uses tables. However, most of the time, filling tables in Elementor could prove to be a time-consuming process. What if we told you that there is an easy way to import the Excel sheet directly on the Elementor page. Yes, that is right. You can directly import the file and have the exact table on the Elementor page.

So, you might be wondering how you can do it, right?

Well, there are many ways to do it. We will cover two general methods on how to import the Excel sheet. Before that, let us take a look at the basic overview of how we will import the file.

Overview of Elementor import Excel

The first thing that you need to understand is the extension. You cannot directly import the .xls file in all of the methods provided to us. Therefore, if you want more ways to upload the file, you can convert it into a CSV file. CSV files can be created directly from excel. So, there is no extra effort in needed.

You can simply click on the Save As button and then select the desired format you want. Here, we will select the CSV file as we need CSV.

Coming to the point, we will use a table plugin that will allow us to import the file. The table plugin will create a table and then we will integrate that table into the Elementor page. This will make your work a lot easier.

As you might know, there is no direct way to create a table with an imported file in Elementor. So, we will have to use a third-party plugin that does the work for us. You can then start importing the files.

If you want to add a table in your posts, you should check out these plugins. When you are using a plugin, you will also get better tables that will work with any device. Therefore, your users will get a better experience. Then again, you can always go with a different plugin, one that best suits your needs.

Let us start with the first plugin.

Why use a table plugin?

The table plugins extend the features that a normal text editor provides. You will have a very limited number of features if you use a text editor to create a table. Instead, you can use a table plugin. It will provide you with numerous options on how to import and adjust your Excel sheet.

Now, there are many features that you can use here. We will see a few of them that are important. The plugin will ensure that the table opens perfectly well on all the devices. So, even if the majority of the audience uses mobile devices, there will be no problem while using this particular device.

You can also design the table the way you want. It also allows the users to sort the items. Do not worry, you can enable or disable any of the options however you want.

Many people have huge tables that they want to import. For instance, if you have a table of more than 100 rows, it will be hard for the users to see all of them, right? That is why there is a pagination feature. You can enable the pagination or disable it.

The pagination will add the numbered page just like the one you see on the blog page. Users can click on “2” or “next” and it will show the next set of rows. Do not worry, it will not change the entire page but it will only change the table rows. Therefore, the users can still read the above content or text.

As mentioned before, there are many features. This also depends on the plugin you use. So, we will not discuss all of them. Most importantly, it allows importing a table from other files.

Elementor import Excel using Tablepress

The first and the best plugin that you can use is Tablepress. Tablepress has been in the industry for many years and has been providing the best features available on the market. The best thing that you will find here is that it is a free plugin. So, you are not paying a penny to use this. Therefore, people use it a lot.

This specific plugin allows you to import Excel, CSV, HTML, and JSON. You can use any of these files. It allows for an easy import of these files. If you have the table saved in any of these formats, you can use Tablepress.

Earlier we mentioned that you need to convert your file to CSV in order to upload the file. However, here you do not even need to do that. You can directly import the file and start using it in Tablepress.

Let us see the step-by-step how to do it.

The first step will be to install the plugin. So, we will not cover the same thing again and again. You can simply search for Tablepress, install, and activate it. Once you do it, we can commence with the guide.

Open TablePress and Import the Table

You will see the Tablepress menu in the WordPress dashboard. You should see the plugin menu button on the left side. When you are there, you will see the various tabs.

As we are planning to import the file, we will head over to the Import tab. You will see the import tab right next to the table tab. You can click on it and it will allow you to import the file you want. You can directly upload your excel file here.

Once you do it, you can easily see the entire table in Tablepress. So, upload your file and import the table.

Thereafter, we can adjust the table settings. You will see the table right after you import it. That is a success. Now, you can do the following steps.

Table Settings

We will now take a look at few table settings that you need to take in. There are many table settings here in Tablepress.

The ones that you need to keep in mind are at the bottom. Before we get there, it is always recommended that you check the table once to ensure that all the fields are imported successfully and properly.

You can check the number of rows, columns, and then see if it has proper text. If it is a different language, you need to look at it carefully.

Once you have done it, you can scroll to the bottom of the table and take a look at the settings there. You will have to select whether the first row is the header or not. You can also select if you want to allow the users to sort and allow pagination.

All these settings are done from here. Once you do all these things, you can save the table. You can then import the Excel table in Elementor. We will see the integration at last. Let us talk about another similar plugin that you can use here. This can also be a great choice. However, it is a paid plugin. Let us talk more about it.

Elementor import Excel using WPDataTables

The next plugin that we can use is WPDataTables. It is a great plugin that gives us access to numerous different features. If we talk about looks, it is one of the best plugins. However, there is a big disadvantage here. That is, you will have to pay for it.

There are many great features that you will get. People often term it as advanced features. These are the features like conditional formatting where you can set the conditions for the table. In the same way, there are many popup settings for specific things.

It will also give us more integration possibilities. You can also make dynamic queries for SQL. The name says it all. The main use of the table is for the same purpose. So, if you are someone who wants to get access to all these things in one place, you can surely use WPDataTables. You can visit their official website to know more about it. The official website has a complete list of all the features that you will get here. So, you can also check that out and determine how you want to proceed.

Importing and Creating a Table

Unlike the tutorial above, here you will not to need complete a step-by-step in order to import the file. It has one of the simplest processes for importing files out there. You can simply go through their setup wizard and you will have the complete table there.

At first, you will have to open the plugin from the WordPress menu. When you do so, you will be taken to a complete step-by-step process.

You can upload the file and complete the setup directly from there. At first, you can upload the CSV file. Thereafter, it will directly import the file and then start showing you the data. Once you have the table, you can see the table. You can then manipulate the basic settings from there. For instance, you can set whether you want to allow the sorting or not.

As it is a paid plugin, you will also be allowed to set other options. You can also enable the advanced options from the plugin. You can play around with the plugin and explore the plugin if you want.

Once you have gotten familiar with the setup, you can start managing the table and afterwards import the Excel sheet into Elementor.

Integrate Table with Elementor (for both plugins)

Now, when you have created a table, there are many ways how you can integrate it with the Elementor. The best way to integrate it is by using the shortcode.

Each table you create in any of the plugins will have a unique shortcode. You can click on the plugin from which you will see the list of all the tables. Besides each table, you will also see a shortcode. You can use this shortcode to display the table anywhere on the website.

Now, most of you might have an idea on how to set up the integration. If not, here is the easy way to do it.

Integrate Shortcode on Elementor

Open the page where you want to add the table. You can then click on the widget. Thereafter, you can add the shortcode widget from the panel. The shortcode widget will allow you to add and display any shortcode.

You can simply add the shortcode of the table. It might simply be displayed as the shortcode at first. However, if you click on preview changes, you can then see the table.

That is pretty much it. Now, your Elementor work is over. You do not need to use the Elementor plugin again for any purpose.

If you want to change something in the table, you can simply open the table plugin and make the changes from there. Look how easy it is to manage your table data now.

Now, if you want to delete any table, you got two ways of deleting it.

You can delete it by removing the shortcode. You will still have a backup shortcode in the table plugin that you can use. Many people do not want the backup as well. So, you can delete the table from the table plugin and then remove the shortcode as well. Do not forget to remove the shortcode from the Elementor page or else it will display the shortcode text on the page.

Final Words

In conclusion, this is how you can import an Excel sheet in Elementor and have a table on any page you want. For most people, using Tablepress is the right option as it is free to use and you can easily create the table from there too. It is simple and will not require advanced configuration. However, if you want to use the advanced features, you can use WPDataTables which is a paid plugin. Both of them are great and can be used to import excel files and integrate them in Elementor.
